Shredder Machine for Polyester Fabric and Garments
The polyester fabric and waste garment shredder is a volume-reduction processing machine designed specifically for flexible textile materials. It is primarily used to shred waste clothing, knitted fabrics, woollen textiles, and polyester fibres into uniform small pieces, facilitating subsequent sorting, recycling, reprocessing, or resource recovery.
Unlike standard crushing equipment for hard materials, textiles are characterised by their softness, high toughness and tendency to become entangled, which can lead to feeding blockages or entanglement of the cutter shaft during processing. Consequently, this machine employs a helical shredding mechanism optimised for soft materials; the shearing action created between the rotating and stationary blades gradually tears the fabric rather than simply compressing it.

This structure is well-suited to materials such as polyester fibres, knitted fabrics, woollen textiles and waste clothing. During operation, the material enters the shredding chamber via the feed inlet and is continuously propelled forward by the spiral cutting rollers; after multiple shearing actions, it is reduced to fragments of relatively uniform size. Depending on the characteristics of the material, the output particle size can be controlled by adjusting the blade clearance and rotational speed.
The equipment typically employs a low-speed, high-torque drive system to ensure stable operation when processing highly tenacious fibre materials. Compared to high-speed shredding equipment, low-speed shearing reduces dust generated by excessive fibre fragmentation, whilst also lowering energy consumption and blade wear. In actual production, depending on the equipment model, processing capacity ranges from several dozen kilograms per hour to several hundred kilograms per hour, meeting the requirements of both small and medium-sized recycling lines as well as industrial-scale production.
Furthermore, the equipment features a relatively compact design with a small footprint. Depending on the customer鈥檚 production requirements, it can be configured with automatic conveying systems, magnetic separators or downstream sorting systems to form a complete textile recycling and processing workflow.
With the widespread use of polyester fibres and blended materials, the recycling of waste clothing faces challenges such as material complexity and low efficiency in manual disassembly. Pre-treatment using specialised shredding equipment can improve the efficiency of subsequent processing and is one of the key pieces of equipment in the waste textile recycling process.
