Mobile Pre-Shredder and Debaler for UBC Bale Recycling

The mobile pre-shredder is primarily used for the initial processing stage of scrap metal recycling lines; its core function is to shred, de-bale, and loosen high-density compressed bales. Typically utilizing a high-torque hydraulic drive or a low-speed, high-torque transmission system combined with high-strength, wear-resistant cutters, the equipment continuously tears and shreds steel bales, UBC (Used Beverage Can) aluminum bales, and mixed scrap metal.

Compared to feeding compressed bales directly into the main shredder, pre-shredded material is more uniform in size. This effectively reduces instantaneous impact loads on downstream equipment, minimizes clogging, and enhances the operational stability of the entire production line. Furthermore, the mobile design facilitates transport between different recycling sites, making it adaptable to various operating environments such as scrap yards, aluminum recycling centers, and temporary dismantling sites.

UBC aluminum bales, in particular, are highly dense due to high-pressure baling; feeding them directly into large-scale metal shredders can lead to uneven feeding and accelerated equipment wear. The mobile pre-shredder rapidly breaks apart the bales, returning the aluminum cans to a loose state before they proceed to subsequent stages—such as shredding, magnetic separation, and eddy-current sorting—thereby boosting aluminum recovery efficiency.

In addition to UBC bales, the equipment is suitable for processing a wide range of materials, including steel bales, light-gauge scrap steel, iron scrap briquettes, industrial offcuts, and mixed scrap metal. Cutter configurations, rotational speeds, and feeding methods can be adjusted based on specific material characteristics to ensure stable processing across various material specifications. For large-scale metal recycling enterprises, this pre-processing step lowers energy consumption for downstream equipment and reduces downtime caused by large material chunks, ultimately improving overall production efficiency.

As the scale of scrap metal recycling expands and raw material sources become increasingly diverse, compressed baling and transport have become standard industry practices. Consequently, incorporating pre-de-baling and pre-shredding stages before final shredding has become a key strategy for recycling enterprises seeking to optimize their production workflows.

Proper implementation of the pre-shredding process further enhances metal recovery efficiency and equipment utilization, meeting the demands of modern scrap metal recycling lines for automated, continuous, and high-efficiency operations.
